This morning we woke up relatively early for cappuccino and the last packing before leaving for Bologna airport. A questionable start with the new backpack which is slowly eroding my neck,but definitely light. 10 Kg for me, 12 for Andreas. We really kept it low! So we go…

At the baggage drop I was asked for the credit card I used to book the tickets which expired a month ago, so I obviously didn’t have it and the woman at the check-in claimed I then had to rebuy the tickets. I should at least have had a statement from the bank saying that the card was replaced…(seriously??)
After claiming that something about this situation was insane we managed to get to the gate with the original tickets. Way to go British Airways! But the morning was saved by a freshly baked berliner (bombolone) at the bar, so our first lesson for the trip is: never despair (and if you care, never throw away an old credit card)!

Today is still a preparation day since we’ll be staying in London for the night just to be able to catch the flight to Mexico City tomorrow. The plan is to make it to Victoria station and then to meet John who will provide us with an inflatable materess and a cover for the night. Afterwards we’ll meet Saint Iliana Pappa for a refreshing drink and some due gossip, as mandatory for a Greek-Italian meeting! We thank you in advance for the hospitality Iliana!

As we are flying on a sunny day we get the pleasure to see the Alps and how magnificent they are. We’ll keep our eyes open to make sure we can see and appreciate everything we’ll experience in the next months.

As reminded few days ago: “even a long travel begins with the first step”.
