We didn’t plan to go to Cholula, but it was on our way to the remote Venetian village of Chipilo. We took a local transport (camioneta) which was some sort of miniature church on its own.
The road was in the middle of some fields and we really didn’t get the chance to experience the earthquake. Good for us! We made it to Chipilo just for a cappuccino and a look around the small village where people indeed look like Italians.
But back to Cholula, it was a lovely jewel with a magnificent view from the hill of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios. In the background the volcano and the whole valley. On our way down we have met a group of Danish people: despite the effort of looking as local as possible they were recognizable as a white spot on a black wall.
On our part we go around with an improbable mixture of languages which sounds like: “yes, nos trengemos unas cerveza” or ” si si, har you los cuciaros?” and we are so confident that it’s really working well!
That was our last day in the Puebla surroundings as we have moved on to Oaxaca. The bus ride from CAPU, which lasted a bit more than 4 hours, was very smooth and the view from the top of the mountains was really impressive. At a first look, Oaxaca looks full of American tourists, probably because of the available airport with international connections just outside Oaxaca. We’ll go there in about 10 days for our flight to Tijuana.
Good bye Puebla!
